Weight Neutral
HAES Therapist Michigan and Florida

All Bodies, All Genders, All Relationships

Tired of fighting with your body trying to live up to society’s bullshit standards?

You can’t go anywhere without hearing about shrinking your body and the bodies around you. The office lunch room, the gym, the doctor, friend groups, everywhere you go there seems to be an obsession with body size and anti-fatness.

It makes sense, swimming in this diet culture soup wears us down, make us feel like we do need to lose weight or that we aren’t enough. No matter where you are on your journey to weight neutrality and body neutrality, having an weight neutral therapist to support you along the way is crucial.

Is body image impacting your ability to connect with others?

Sexual connection, dating, intimacy, and friendships can all be deeply impacted by anti-fat bias. Living in a world that is not setup to support your body and pleasure is incredibly distressing and difficult. How are you supposed to date if you dont know if people you are interested or have done their own work on anti-fatness to appreciate and even love your body as is?

Everyday you move through the world, a world that is very fat antagonistic, of course it is difficult to appreciate your body. What is possible if we shifted that rage and hatred toward a system intended to cause us harm and make money off us, instead of our own bodies?

Wait…what if my goal is weight loss?

Everyone is coming to therapy from a different place. I work thought anti-diet and body neutral perspectives. At the same time, I believe that you are the expert of your own life and I will meet you where you are at. Intentional weight loss is not a therapeutic goal at Rooted In Change Therapy. If that is a goal of yours as a client, we can still work together but our focus will be on the impacts of anti-fatness and diet culture on you, your relationships, intimacy, and your body.

A lot of that journey is likely to involve discussing struggles with your body and weight. I aim to guide people toward body neutrality.

Living in diet culture is complicated, many of us experience a desire to lose weight even when we understand how messed up diet culture is.

We are multi-faceted human beings and we can hold the complexity for two opposing parts of you, the one who wants to feel neutral about their body and the one that wants life within society to be easier.

When you are able to be seen through a lens of positive regard, and not a lens of anti-fat bias, being vulnerable about your goals becomes less challenging.

Sex therapy with a fat sex therapist who understands the impacts of diet culture on dating and intimacy can create space for you to discuss your body, sexuality, relationships and desires.

“We need a world that insists upon safety and dignity for all of us—not because we are beautiful, healthy, blameless, exceptional, or beyond reproach, but because we are human beings.”

-Aubrey Gordon, What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat

Expanding the Scope of Therapy with a Fat-Affirming Approach

At Rooted In Change Therapy Pllc, we understand the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone seeking therapy, regardless of their body size. We recognize that individuals living in larger bodies often face unique challenges and that these challenges can greatly impact their personal relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

With a fat sex therapist by your side, you will find a supportive environment where you can freely discuss the everyday issues faced by those living in a culture that often marginalizes larger bodies. B Snogles is trained to address your concerns with empathy and understanding, working alongside you to achieve your individual and relationship goals.

One of the primary advantages of having a fat-affirming therapist is that you can focus solely on the therapeutic work without feeling judged or stigmatized due to your body size. This freedom from judgment opens up opportunities for deep exploration and growth, enabling you to delve into areas of your life that may have been previously overshadowed by concerns about your body image.

Being seen for who you truly are, without the biases and assumptions often associated with societal beauty standards, can be an incredibly empowering and healing experience in itself. In our therapy sessions, your unique experiences, struggles, and triumphs will be acknowledged and celebrated, fostering a safer space for you to explore the impacts of diet culture, dating, sex, and various aspects of your identity and life.

Through my fat-affirming approach, I aim to challenge the harmful narratives perpetuated by society and promote self-acceptance, body positivity, and self-compassion. B Snogles will work with you to develop strategies to navigate the complexities of living in a culture that may not always value or embrace diverse body shapes and sizes.

Ultimately, Rooted In Change Therapy is here to support you on your journey towards a more fulfilling and authentic life. Whether you seek therapy as an individual or as part of your relationships, B Snogles is committed to meeting you where you are, providing the utmost care, respect, and guidance as you embark on your path of growth, self-discovery, and healing.
